and, just to stir it up, here is assassin - something's gotta give. as my young nephew shaun, has informed me, yolo. leave me a message and it will be revealed briefly, my involvement with langara sustainability, under community & cultural development, will be a workshop - medicine pouch and/or darning - on mon. 9 july 2012, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. there will be a slide show, a draw to win one of chindi nations' clean green handmade booklets, and other fun stuff. all materials supplied; you can bring your own items to darn; and explore using darning as a design feature.
on the langara site it shows the cost being $25; but no worry, sarah st. john, coordinator, has assured me that the price will be by donation, from $0 to $25. nobody turned away. again, the activities are from $0, by donation, and up. nothing too expensive. a relative term.
then there is the indian summer festival which is truly a downtown eastside festival by location. there are numerous events, music, dance, food, bollywood star, workshops, lecture/discussions. prices range from free to $350 (not a typo) plate indian extravanganza of food and entertainment. i am going for the sufi music event.
