two week long summer events one in the downtown eastside, the other off downtown eastside

so, tune in to inner city blues reggae with augustos pablo. found him while trolling you tube.  something that is very, very downtown eastside, as experienced by many sisters and brothers, including myself.

while you listen to this, you can read about the langara summer school on sustainable communities, and the indian summer festival on the blog i write for cacv.

and, just to stir it up, here is assassin - something's gotta give.  as my young nephew shaun, has informed me,  yolo.  leave me a message and it will be revealed

briefly, my involvement with langara sustainability, under community & cultural development, will be a workshop - medicine pouch and/or darning - on mon. 9 july 2012, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.  there will be a slide show, a draw to win one of chindi nations' clean green handmade booklets, and other fun stuff.  all materials supplied; you can bring your own items to darn; and explore using darning as a design feature.

on the langara site it shows the cost being $25; but no worry, sarah st. john, coordinator, has assured me that the price will be by donation, from $0 to $25.  nobody turned away.  again, the activities are from $0, by donation, and up. nothing too expensive.  a relative term.

then there is the indian summer festival which is truly a downtown eastside festival by location.  there are numerous events, music, dance, food, bollywood star, workshops, lecture/discussions.  prices range from free to $350 (not a typo) plate indian extravanganza of food and entertainment.  i am going for the sufi music event.

and to end, here, to say have a good weekend chill to the smooth, warm honey sounds of quincy jones group and vocalist valerie simpson with summer in the city.

sweet,
karenza
