looking for ideas - seriously looking for ideas

i haven't written anything in this blog since may; very derelict of me.

the thing is, i complete 70 years on 30 december, and since the summer have been wondering where and how i am going from now on.

don't want to do many workshops.  if any.  other than the cape workshop in february as part of the wimmins' dinner & variety show.  funded by neighbourhood small grant, vancouver foundation.

i want to spend more time making, that i know.  for example, where did this lovely woman get to?  i want to make her using fabric.

and i want to continue the mending and darning thingy, but how without workshopping it. this is where ideas/suggestions would be most most welcome.
if only to keep me out of trouble:)

SLOW WORK & A SIMPLE LIFE

Image result for minimalist life

so, found this on flipboard; fits in with my planning the next decade.  i complete 70 this year, and want to achieve certain objectives.  it's a 'minimalism challenge', and since i love lists......................and why reinvent the wheel.  for me it's not about interior decor or how much i own, it is about how i want to live my life.
some of the items are - stay offline for one full day, examine your daily habits, let go of a goal............. who wants to do it with me?  oh pleeeeeze.

THE NEXT THING ON THE LIST IS

a tunic made from brown cotton pique; a medium weight, sturdy fabric that will stand up to a lot of wear.

the brown is kind of in between these two images

and i am going to use this pattern

easy, simple, no darts and tucks and pesky curves.

if there is enough cloth left over it will be used to make trousers; or if not then a vest maybe, or perhaps i'll just throw it into the chindi nation clothing workshops box.

rather uninspiring color, brown.....but i intend to just pop it up by block printing and embroidering on appliqued pieces that match the prints.

thinking of purple and gold, or purple and copper.  nice deep, rich purple.  hmmm.  yummy.

'twas the evening of my birth anniversay

30 december, and i'm almost 70! denise, jane, ruth, vicki and i went to la casita for dinner.  we had a lovely evening, and the food is good.  i'm sorry to not have been there earlier; people kept saying the food was good.  and it is, and very reasonable prices.  will definitely go there again.

happenings - past, present, future

there is so much happening in the 'hood, the city, the geographical west coast, the 'north american' land mass, the 'hemisphere' the planet, the galaxy, the universe and beyond.  and i keep thinking of the butterfly flapping it's wings in tokyo and mount st. helen erupting fiercely.

something like this image posted by my friend vikki, the image is photographed by stephen ellcock. in such beauty we could be destroyed.

my friend jacqueline's husband of many years died earlier this month; i never knew him - just from facebook pictures.  a good man; he had to be a good man to be married to jacqueline; who is a strong and gentle woman.

and one way or another our time on this planet, the world, this universe......................

about chindi & me

Far, far away in an ancient land, now called India, a girl child was born in the Mohan Nagar neighbourhood of the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra State.  After many experiences, some positive, some negative, but mostly mediocre if not downright boring,  she arrived in the third world village of downtown eastside of Vancouver.  She loved colour and shape and the combining of these elements to create more/ different colours and shapes. Often she wants to eat colours. Her name is Karenza T. Wall and she is me.

Most, if not all of my work is made from remnants (industrial, fabric stores, donations by friends).  In the Hindi dialect spoken in my hood chindi (pronounced chin thee – as in the), means scraps and/or rags of fabrics.  It seemed apt to call my work  “chindi designs”.

My belief is that all peoples, irrespective of economics have the right to have unique garments and accessories, personally designed  and made by themselves,
